New water saving legislation is working its way through various municipalities and through state legislation. California is now proposing to have toilets flush with 1 gallon (4 liters). This is possible, as is shown in Sweden, but it will also create problems, especially with what is known as "drain line carry". There might not be enough water to carry the waste down the drain line.
Drain Line Carry is what a toilet is able to flush down the drain line. The lenght of where a sample stool stops in the drain pipe determines (among other tests) how well a toilet flushes. If for example a stool gets stuck say 20 feet into the drain pipe, there is a problem, eventually build up will occur and stoppage is likely.
The Water Saving Booster (WSB) is one of those clever inventions that has no moving parts and yet is able to do a very effective job. This device collects waste water in a reservoir and after a certain volume is reached, the reservoir overflows and carries with it the entire collection of gray and black water down the main drain. This effectively stops the drain line carry problem.
The WSB measures 4 feet by 2 feet can be installed horizontally or vertically. It also can be buried into the ground or installed under a floor. This makes it easy for those locations where one would like to install ultra low flush toilets. For a layout of $300 dollars water savings ($$$) can be realized within a year.
